Who Reads These?

Out of all the posts I've done so far, I haven't received a single comment. It's not that I thrive on comments or anything, but it makes me curious who out of our class actually takes time to read what is posted [besides LZH, of course]. What really made me curious about this is one of the last blogs I posted asked for feedback and received none. No one even made a comment to me about away from Blogger. So, here's my challenge...don't worry, it's a simple one:

Leave me a comment saying that you actually read this.

Even better, leave me a comment admitting to how much you actually pay attention to everyone else's posts. It would feel a little irrelevant to post anything meaningful on here if the only purpose was to receive a grade. Don't get me wrong, I like doing this for a grade, but if there isn't any more purpose than that for these blogs then I may very well just churn out something quick and mindless each week for my points.

PS: As a reward for participating in this, here's a random video:

  1. I read it! :) I won't lie, it depends how much I have to do... I usually read the people I know best ... and the shorter ones... which is ironic because I write the longest posts ever! But yes, I try to read. Thanks for the challenge.... interesting video...

  3. I read these. I only know a handful of you, but LZH is my good friend and colleague, and I'm intrigued by her assignment experiment, so I read these.
I don't comment much. Mostly because I don't want all of you to think I'm creepy. I'm not creepy. And many of you don't know who I am to know that I'm not creepy.
I also don't comment much because I tend to get into posts and understand the writing much better if I know who the writer is - if I have some glimpse into the writer's world. Many of you don't sign your posts, and most of you don't include any information in your profile that would help get that glimpse.

I read a good number of blogs. Most of them are written by people I don't know. I don't know where they live, I may not even know their real name, but I have glimpsed into their world and have some connection to them through their writing. Whatever the connection.

I believe the exercise in writing posts to this blog is to learn to write so people can identify with you and get a glimpse into your life. The more you have in common, the more likely you'll feel compelled to comment. That's how it is in the blog world. But, perhaps some of you know that.

I don't know who you are, writer. Because you have not signed your post, I can't compare your other posts to help develop that glimpse, including the previous post you mentioned that solicited feedback. I suspect you ended that post in a question, but don't know. And, while ending a post with a question can cause the reader pause, it also can disconnect the reader if they don't identify with you and what you've written. Perhaps ending a post with a question causes the reader to think it's rhetorical, that's what I usually think.

At any rate, write on! But help the readers out. Sign your posts, and if you want comments, work to write what will connect you to your readers. Or if you're just jumping through the hoop, jump on!

  4. Read it- and thanks for calling us out. I usually try to read everyone's, but don't figure they would be interested in my comments. I know better now.
